I’m writing this because it seems like my taste, which is quite vast, is being put on the line.
Someone please try to convince me that I’m wrong about this kid and show me some evidence why he is the next big thing. Don’t claim the following:
"He is the man"
"He is Fiya"
"Drake is the future"
Please refrain for these false accusations about this dude.

ReplyDeleteNow I am disappointed in you because I normally would go to you about all things hip hop, because you constantly are on top of it with all the latest music and all the latest information about what is going on. The fact that you can't see the genius of Drake makes me question whether you have fallen off your game a bit. Quite frankly, Drake is the future of Hip Hop. This is why.
1. His material-Drake is innovative in his material. Drake is not rapping about cocaine, hoes, or killing people. He is talking about wanting to be "Successful", or giving you accounts about a girl he likes that's a stripper in "Houstatlantavegas", or how his girl in "Best I Ever Had" is the fuckin' best. He doesn't fit into any stereotype. He's refreshingly original in that aspect.
2. His delivery- Drake is witty, and his punchlines are creative. Where hip hop is now, no one is saying anything besides "swag" or "ball" or "baow". Drake refuses to meet the status quo. Every line is worth listening to. He's got a message and conveys that thru his music. "Just like I said, we'll pull your card and find out you're a Hallmark. I break records, no need to for the false start. And my verses getting stupider. Wayne if you're on Mars can you pick me up from Jupiter!" My girl put it this way. "I listen to Drake because you feel dumber after you get done listening to him". By the way, he sings too. And not using autotune. And not bad either.
3.Marketability- People can rock with him from down south to up top. He works with producers from all over the country so his sound is universal.
Ali, you have to see the appeal of this guy. He's like a young Jay-Z. I thought you of all people would be on top of him. (No homo)Smh...

- Drake sounds like a corny Kanye West, who tries to hard to let the words come out of his mouth. By his Delivery, i meant that is not smooth or able to be enjoyed at all. It seems like he is forcing the words out. He hardly can stay on beat with the track. "TAKE THE D TAKE THE D" line like that aren't clever nor creative. It just Corny.
A reason why I think people say he is Hot is due to the fact that Wayne Co-signed Drake. People as in the masses are biased to things like that. When such as a personality of lil wayne stature says you are hot, the world is going to love you as well.
Now dont get me wrong, I'm not hating Drake for the sake of Hating him. It's just that i dont see anything special in him.
He had a song out a while back called REPLACEMENT GIRL with Trey Songz. Drake relied on on songz the whole track because his delivery was off beat and excruciating to listen to. I dont remember a sigle line from his verse but I remember the whole hook becuase Songz made the track hot.
